Using music to ignite the pursuit of higher learning.
Providing a creative space for communities to support their youth.
What we do.
The Hall Pass Tour is a nationwide series of high energy, after-school concerts for grades 6-12 designed to help kids from underserved schools and community centers get excited about leveraging higher learning to pursue their dreams. The tour team is comprised of college-educated change agents from underserved communities with backgrounds in creative arts, music and education.
How we do it.
We empower students to take the lead.
Concerts are planned with the help of student ambassador teams. And while the tour is headlined by independent artists j.RENEÉ and ScienZe,auditions are held at each tour location to select 2-3 opening acts.
Chosen opening acts are charged with the responsibility of not only sharing their talent but also their aspirations for the future, to serve as leaders and inspire their communities. Along with recognition awards, trivia contests and giveaways, our tour headliners, DJ and host bring the concert experience full circle by sharing personal anecdotes of how they were able to use higher learning as a vessel to turn their passions into careers.
Where we’ve been.
In the spring of 2011, our pilot tour was launched at five public schools across New York City. Following the pilot, in the fall of 2011, we visited ten (10) public schools in New Jersey, Delaware and the Adirondack region of New York. Since the spring of 2012, we have expanded to reach locations in Colorado, California, Florida, Kentucky and Oregon, and have been featured in the New York Times, GOOD, and Fast Company.
Where we’re headed.
As the tour expands, our goal is to host concerts at fifteen (15) new schools and community centers across the country every fall and spring.
